The 28th Infantry Regiment earned notoriety as the Black Lions of Cantigny for their decisive victory over German forces in Cantigny, France during WWI.
On the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, we honored the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One), America’s very first organized, international fighting force.
The design narrative centers around the 28th Infantry Regiment, however, six additional units were included in the uniform design, distributed evenly across the team for full representation on game day.
From humble beginnings as a street dog, to one of the most decorated animal soldiers in history, Rags is the official mascot of the Big Red One.
Hand painted graphics inspired by the original Big Red One helmets from WWI. A black/anthracite color scheme further tells the story of the Black Lions of Cantigny.
This custom Black Lions baselayer was designed with three distinct looks, including sleeve graphics representing the Infantry, Artillery and Engineering regiments associated with the 1st Division.
